West Liberty, Kentucky
On March 2, 2012, a F4 tornado ripped through the heart of West Liberty. Everything from homes and schools to local businesses and government facilities were leveled. However, through the overwhelming devastation there remained a glimmer of hope. Volunteers from across the nation rallied around this small community and began to rebuild.
We worked with local and state officials, business owners and residents to establish a Downtown Master Plan. The Plan sets the tone for West Liberty’s future and connects downtown’s amenities, municipal facilities, businesses and green space. Addressing vehicular and pedestrian circulation was also a high priority. Traffic flow was enhanced, on-street parking was positioned adjacent to retail locations and covered walkways were included in the plan.
